here is a fun idea (scroll down a bit) for faux smocking 

using elastic thread...not so easy to find but i intend to give it 

a go this weekend. we shall see.

i also thought this was a cool diy idea to do for a kids 

room, boy or girl. it would just look so happy.

a little spring cleaning.

i have been wanting to reorganize and clean out the craft room

for a while now, but it was such a daunting project so i kept 

putting it off. problem being, every time i tried to do anything in there

it just kept bugging me and i felt stumped.

crazy i know.

anyhow, i moved out the big table and opted for a small and cozier

little desk to hold my sewing goods. 

i folded all the piles of fabric and got rid of junk.

then i put the kids table right in the middle

 where i think they have much more fun goofing around.

coloring on their bellies with washable markers

(i mean just declan that is)

or glue sticking everything in sight (ahem, ruby).

i was pretty pleased. enjoyed it for a day, 

and now, BOOM, it is back to madness. 

but that is all part of the fun.

here's to an exciting weekend;

we celebrated the big day well this past

weekend....with delicious food,

fabulous company (family)

and lots of laughs.

twas memorable and so lovely.

pretty pink garland

i made this sweet little pom pom garland

to hang on the mantle (my favorite piece

to decorate). it was really super easy

and involved no sewing.

any interested parties speak up

and i'll do a diy post next week.

it'll give me an excuse to make one

for someone else i love.

fireplace update

so i went out on a limb and gave

that wild greeny-turquoisey color a chance

one afternoon during naptime.

that night i had my work cut out for me

painting it a nice bright white in exchange

for the major bobble that i had created.

it was worth it.

now i know.

and. major plus?

i love it white.

so there. much better than peachy, right?

stunned by color

saw this project the other day

and just loved the color.

was considering using it,

or a variation of it on our fireplace.

i think it would compliment the gray room well.

darn design frenzy,

i cant get it out of my head.

i know you'll all probably say i'm crazy,

but any thoughts

or dare i ask?

its beginning to look a lot like...

i can not believe it is so soon.

the kids tree.

we dont have a big one yet.

yes. our advent calendar is strung across the mantle,

and holds a treasure for each day.

crafty room

upon recent discovery that i can in fact

turn that baby crib into a cozy little couch...

i was pretty pumped to cozy it up for reading pleasures, etc.

in its original spot in our crafty room.

on that note,

i decided to share some more of the space with you all.

sewing, books, a little bit of everything.

an inspiration wall.

crafts to sell at the crafeteria come december.

and a view out the window on this rainy day

oh for a week of rainy days.

i'll take as many as i can get.

a few changes

ive been wanting to make this change

for a while now,

and although it is not exactly as i had hoped...

it is super cozy for now.

the kids room is rather a play room now

and the closet is ruby's bedroom.

it needs some work

but im pretty happy with the quick fix for now.

and i added this
little chalkboard
over the toilet.
it was sporadic but a cute little touch.
and i can change what it says whenever.

just a little craft i put together to hang in the house.

a little reminder that its ok

to be really tired.

ok to be overwhelmed unsure about things.

summer can be rough when you have little guys

and its unbearably hot outside.

so long days inside start to get to you after a while.

then you think, i should go somewhere. but where?

so you play imagine games with ruby.

we went to the movies, had popcorn and m and ms...

then to the beach for swim...

and followed this up with dress ups

and fake names.

and yet

i will say there have been a lot of

un-happy

moments lately.

this little lady is just a bit firey these days,

still full of sweet moments

but we'll just say she has a strong will

and a strong stomping foot.

so i just will keep up this little reminder

for all those moments throughout the day when

the course of action is so unclear.

so funny how you grow up always thinking

mom's know just exactly what

needs to be done always.

they always have the right and perfect answer.

and then you grow up

and realize what was really going on all those years.

hehehee.

projects

some projects

DO get accomplished.

even if it took us months to finally lay

that grey paint on the wall.

so nice to say goodbye to the blue tape that graced

the walls for too long.

we still need some love on part of the walls...my mind is reeling,

but i am pretty pleased with our new charcol grey walls

in the paaarlor.

and then there are those projects that just lay on the table
and beg to get some love.
hmmm. oh dress making how i will get to you eventually.
hopefully before someone spills juice on you.

its those little things...

that make me happy

like cleaning off my back porch

with my homemade cleaning solution:

warm water. fresh mint. half a lemon

because it smells so lovely

cutting fresh flowers

and putting them here there and everywhere

...

yet no longer outside for now with the gush of summer heat

finding $3 chairs for the kids

at the local ranch market

in rediculous bright colors like turquoise and orange

some peaceful coloring and conversation

with my little girl

while the wild man takes a snooze

...

most esp. the never ending new vocabulary:

'look mom' 'grass'

'look mom' 'circles'

'oh woooow mom'

...

it is those little moments

that i would like to pause and hold on to for just a bit longer,

for they fly away really too quickly.
